Aurasma Is a fun app to use in your classroom to help students build their vocabulary skills. This app is an augmented reality generator that can either retrieve pictures for a specific vocabulary word and show you the definition of that word by bringing up a web page. The other feature it has is you can attach pictures to that vocabulary word so you can have a visual of that that word means. So the process is you have the word say like cat and you place that word under your smart phone or camera  then assign what pictures you want that for that vocabulary word. Then every time you come across that word you use the app and the pictures you program that word to have will appear on the screen so that you can remember it.

Internet tools contnue part 2

In EnGrade I have finished all of the Hiragana charts from A thru N.  That is the complete first chart broken down in to five sections that comes with a work sheet, flash cards, and a quiz at the end of each lesson.  In Wordle, I have created another vocabulary picture using foods in Japanese.  In Diigo, I have gotten four articles from Nippon Nia to use for my class.  The more I use these web tools, the quicker I become.  I will also feature a new app that I found in the App Store that I bought recently called “Stick pick”- it costs $2.99.  First you type out your class or classes that you have.  Then once you are done, you input all the students that you have.  You can start by picking a class.  Then you shake the phone or Ipad and it will randomly pick a student to read.  You have a number of Rubrics in the app for any activities you have in the class.  Once that student is done with the task, their stick gets disposed and it picks another stick in the can to choose a student who has not gone.

Web Tools that I worked on today was Engrade , Wordle, and Diigo. Engrade I continued on creating another lesson for my course. I did the characters Ma to Yo now. I also created flash cards for this lesson and a quiz at the end of the lesson. Wordle I created another vocabulary list this time its adjectives in Japanese. Diigo I created another book mark this time it’s the IRA websites that I have been reporting on. I think it will be useful once this class is over for me to share with my co teachers at school.

Internet tools you can use for your classroom

Internet tools
Wordle is an internet site that turns words that you frequently use in your subject area into a work of art. It’s a new way of presenting vocabulary that your students already learn. The website features include a creation field where you just paste or type the words you use in class and the website will generate different variations of shapes of the words you have inputted. You can customize the shape and also the colors of the words that you put in the field. Another way you can input words you use in your class room is via web address. If the website supports RSS feed then it than be use in Wordle. This site is a unique way to present vocabulary that your students already learn but not new vocabulary because the program will just create a shape out of the words that you inputted.
The way I am going to use this program in my class is like a mini word wall every student will have a copy. I can give questions based on the words that I created in Wordle for that unit we are covering. It is also a good study guide for your students on the words that will be use on a test.

Ikeepbookmarks.com is a web base book mark manager. If you sign up you can do the following in any computer you access. You can share your personal book marks to your contactlist and your friends. You can also create a list of book marks for your children's favorite site. This website is a very useful tool to keep all your bookmarks in one place and access them at anytime at any computer you use.
The way I am going to use this tool in my classroom is bookmarks all the web pages that are useful for my students to learn Japanese. I can also book mark articles for my students to read in the class room or at home. The last way I am going to use this tool in my class room is linking to my webpage so that my students can comment on the articles that they are reading.
Diigo.com is the upgrade to Ikeepbookmarks.com it does the same functions where you can categorize bookmarks and email them but it takes it further by saving the website. Once you save the website you can either view it as a HTML or picture offline on your computer or mobile devices. Other feature it has is the highlight features so that you can focus on certain parts of the article that you are reading. You can also use the capture feature where you can box the highlighted text and place notes near the highlighted area. Once you highlighted and boxed and put notes or comments on the article you can share it with people. All of your data is store on the cloud or your computer if you want to work offline.
Mobile functions you can read articles from your library. Take notes of ideas and pictures to research later on. The feature is call Diigo power note. This feature is good for my students to have on their smart phones so that they can share and collaborate on projects they are working on any class. It also helps me documents and websites for the class that im teaching with my students.

Engrade Free Membership Edition Review
Engrade is an easy web course set up tool for teachers who are starting to create an internet classroom for the first time.  The free membership has a lot of features that you can utilize in setting up your online course.  Setting up your class requires just filling out the fields that are provided and what class you are going to make and the description of your class.  Once that is done you can start adding students and even put the seating assignments for the students who are taking your class.
Once that is done you can start creating assignments for the class.  You just fill out what kind of assignment you want your students to do that week or that unit.  Once you are finished making the assignments, you can check it and mark if your students turned it in and also put comments and grades for the assignments that were given.  Students can also comment on what they think about the assignments and lessons.
In creating lessons you can attach videos and presentations.  I put a Power Point presentation in the lesson so that my students may access lessons freely.  The Power Point presentation shows my students how to write the hiragana characters that they are learning.  I also provide a video clip to help them remember the Hiragana characters plus flash cards.
Overall I give this site an A plus it’s easy and you can even create test in the free membership edition. The set up is easy and the learning curve is that that hard. Engrade is very power tool for any teacher to have in the classroom and also to have you assignments and notes for your class.
